The stopper played all 34 Lowland League games for the B squad last term and his performances landed him the Players' Player of the Year award.

Now he is set for a campaign in the senior ranks at Methill as he bids to further his development in a first-team environment.

Liam Fox - in charge of the Hearts B team - spoke about his move to the official club website as he insisted it was the time for a new challenge.

Liam enjoyed a fantastic campaign last season, which saw his game improve with more regular game time. He was fully deserving of his recognition at the end of season awards, but now it’s time for a new challenge. I see this loan move as a good next step for Liam to go and test himself at that higher level. Hopefully, this will bring about further improvement in his game, and he’ll return to the club a better player.

Could Rangers move for Walters after Arsenal exit?

A path has opened that could take Reuell Walters to Rangers.

Record Sport exclusively revealed last month that the Ibrox side like the Arsenal man - but another right-back wasn't a priority at the time.

However, talk continues to surround the future of skipper James Tavernier in Govan beyond the summer window and with the Gunners now officially confirming his EXIT from the club - it would present a potential opportunity to strike a deal.

We told you how the Light Blues are admirers but any switch would require a cross-border fee of around £350K in compensation.

The full-back has a string of interest from down south and in Europe.

Haksabanovic makes Celtic board claim

Transfer news LIVE - all the latest rumours and done deals (4)

Sead Haksabanovic claims the Celtic board wanted him to stay at the club and that is exit is purely down to Brendan Rodgers.

The Montenegro international completed a switch to Malmo on a four-year deal last week, bringing his three-year stint at Parkhead to an end. Haksabanovic found himself out of favour after Rodgers replaced Ange Postecoglou as Hoops boss and he was loaned to Stoke City last season. But he failed to make much of an impact with the Potters and his days in Glasgow looked numbered.

Now, having made the switch to Sweden, the former Rubin Kazan man claims that the Hoops hierarchy were keen for him to remain with the Scottish Premiership champions, and that it was Rodgers who was the driving force behind him leaving Glasgow.

The set-up at Queen’s Park looks brilliant and after listening to the plans for the future I was very impressed. This is a very exciting opportunity and something that I wanted to be part of as soon as a I knew it was an option.

I have been at Celtic since I was young and received a great grounding in the game. Being there was a great learning experience, and I am looking to build on that at Queen’s Park.

I am looking forward to getting down to training and playing games. I know Queen’s Park’s approach to young players and their First Team, and I will be happy if I get there, but I have to prove myself first and work hard to advance.

Interest in Alex Coochrane won't secessarily be rebuffed after Penrice's arrival, should the price be right, while Kyosuke Tagawa may have earned himself a chance to prove his worth after a good end to last season.

That is a result of visa issues which have prevented the summer signing from Ujpest tmaking the trip and the 22-year-old will work with Scott Anderson and the Under-18 squad. Thelin spoke to the Red TV about Ambrose missing out.

Of course we want him here and the situation is what it is. They’ll do a good job with him back at Cormack Park and he will be fit and ready. I’m going to take some zoom calls with him as well to keep things going.

To Hel and back

Transfer news LIVE - all the latest rumours and done deals (13)

Ex Rangers defender Filip Helander looks set to try and resurrect his career in Cyprus with Omonia Nicosia.

The Swedish stopper was surprisingly released by Danish club Odense at the end of the season despite rejecting two bids from Anderlecht for him in January.

Helander left Rangers on a free transfer last summer after missing almost all of the last two seasons at the club with injury - including a Europa League and Scottish Cup Final.
But last season, he managed 22 appearances for Odense in the Danish Superleague, won an international recall and was handed the club's captaincy.

However, he lost his place in the team, was stripped of the captain's armband and allowed to leave.

Now the 31-year-old could be set for a move to Cypriot football after ambitious Omonia offered him a one-year deal.
They finished in a disappointing fifth place last season and see Helander as the ideal recruit to shore up their defence.
Helander made just 35 league starts for Rangers after a £3.5 million move from Bologna five years ago and netted an Old Firm winner in a 1-0 victory in August 2021.

Cathro promises attacking football as he begins Portuguese odyssey

Transfer news LIVE - all the latest rumours and done deals (14)

Ian Cathro has promised to bring attacking football to Estoril after the former Hearts boss was confirmed as manager of the Portuguese club.

The Scot took charge of his first club as manager since his unhappy seven-month stint at Tynecastle seven years ago in a surprise move.

Cathro was mentored by current Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo and was No.2 to him in his last spell in Portuguese football...at Rio Ave ten years ago.

Since then, he's also worked with Nuno at Spurs and Wolves, before moving to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad two years ago as a coach, until he left last year.

And Cathro is looking forward to getting started with Estoril, who finished 14th last season.

He said: "The first impressions I have of the club are very good.

"I feel that it is a club full of desire to grow, to improve and who are ambitious. I am happy to be here and want to play my part in the process.

"In the coming weeks, we have a lot of work to do and I believe we will be very well prepared for when the new league season starts.

"A word to the fans...I want to bring energy to this team. That's what they are going to see - an attacking team full of energy."

Ramadani could give Aberdeen a transfer boost

Aberdeen could be in line for a financial windfall after former midfielder Ylber Ramadani revealed he's close to a big money move from Lecce.

The Albanian international joined Lecce from the Dons last August in a £1 million move after starring in his lone season at Pittodrie, helping then-manager Barry Robson's team claim a third place finish in the Premiership. And Aberdeen negotiated a ten per cent sell-on fee from any future move, with Ramadani linked with a move to Italian champions Inter Milan in the last transfer window,

Ramadani's reputation soared at this summer's Euros despite Albania's elimination at the group stages. Stats showed no player at the tournament covered more ground in the group stages with Ramadani covering 23.3 miles in Albania's games against Italy, Croatia and Spain. And he's admitted he's preparing to leave Serie A side Lecce imminently.

I know there have been offers for me, but I cannot say if there have been any more concrete bids. Until the agreement is reached with my club, I cannot say anymore. I am frustrated because we wanted to qualify. We should have done more, we should have got three points with Croatia and a draw with Spain.

Lamie set for Ross County

Transfer news LIVE - all the latest rumours and done deals (15)

Ross County are set to sign Ricki Lamie, writes Scott Burns.

The Staggies are looking to finalise a deal for the recently freed defender. County boss Don Cowie moved quickly to land the 31-year-old after he terminated his Dundee contract last week. Cowie was looking to add more experience to his County squad and is set to hand Lamie a three year deal.

Lamie had been on-loan at Dundee and had signed a pre-contract at Dens Park that had already kicked in, but that agreement was then terminated. That allowed County to move quickly to beat off other Scottish and Irish interest to line up a deal for Lamie.

Lamie had previously signed a pre-contract with Dundee but he terminated it and remained at Motherwell after their relegation. The centre half has a wealth of experience from his time at Motherwell, Dundee, Livingston and Morton. County have already re-signed Will Nightingale on-loan from Wimbledon and Lamie will further enhance their defensive options.

Kamara action for Rangers

Rangers missed out on a cash windfall when Glen Kamara's Leeds United blew their chance of promotion to the English Premier League - but the Ibrox club's coffers could STILL be boosted by the Finn.

The Light Blues were due a £500,000 payment if the Yorkshire outfit had returned to the top flight thanks to a clause written into the midfielder's deal when he moved Rangers to Elland Road for £5million last summer.

But reports in France say Ligue 1 outfit Rennes are keen on Kamara and that could see Rangers bank cash with a sell-on clause also written into the deal that saw him move south. Rennes are on the hunt for a midfielder as they are braced for losing Enzo Le Fee to Roma while Switzerland Euro 2024 star Fabian Rieder has joined Stuttgart on loan.

Manchester United are set to announce Dan Ashworth as the club's new Sporting Director.

The 53-year-old has been subject to intense speculation over a move to Old Trafford for the past several months but any move was put on hold with his current club Newcastle holding out for a megabucks compensation deal.

However, as reported by The Atheltic's David Ornstein earlier this morning, the chase for Ashworth seems to be over, with both Premier League clubs coming to an agreement.

Ashworth will start work with the Red Devils immediately, and will work alongside Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox at the Theatre of Dreams.

Bayern have Georgian on mind

Transfer news LIVE - all the latest rumours and done deals (17)

Georgia keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has responded to speculation linking him with a move to Bayern Munich. The 23-year-old Valencia shot-stopper was reportedly on Bayern’s radar last summer but with Manuel Neuer nearing the end of his career, the German giants will be looking for a replacement.

Following Georgia’s 4-1 defeat to Spain, he said: "Bayern still have the best goalkeeper in the world. It’s currently not possible to move there. I would only go there if I'll play. If I don't play, then not.”

O'Riley wanted by Southampton

One man who all Celtic supporters definitely won't want to see leave the club this summer is Matt O'Riley. The Denmark international's stellar campaign in 2023/24 - where he registered 19 goals and 18 assists in 49 matches in all competitions - has caught the attention of European heavyweights Roma and Atletico Madrid.

Much closer to home, newly promoted English Premier League side Southampton are also big admirers of the attacking midfielder, and are reportedly willing to fork out £35million for the 23-year-old. Saints boss Russell Martin previously worked with O'Riley when he was boss at MK Dons, and although they only spent less than nine months together, the player made a lasting impression on his old gaffer, who described him as a 'manager's dream'.

I could see right away that Matt was a brilliant footballer. He is an absolutely outstanding technician. Let me tell you something about Matt: his mentality was straight out of the top drawer. At MK Dons he was every manager’s dream. He was the consummate professional in his preparation. He was really into that and the recovery side of the game. He was a real student of football and was genuinely interested in how he could take his game to the next level and be the best he could be.

He is physically a beast too. I said when he first signed for Celtic that he would be one of the best players in the Scottish Premiership and I am delighted for him that he has proven that statement to be correct. He’s grown into his role at Celtic and adapted to Scottish football so well. It is not hindsight or being clever after the event, I always knew he would.

Goldson wanted by Brum

Connor Goldson is a transfer target for Birmingham City, according to a report.

The Scottish Sun claim former Celtic coach Chris Davies wants to take the Rangers defender south of the border for his English League One bid. The new boss is desperate to add experience to his ranks and is eyeing up the stopper. Goldson is one of the top earners at Ibrox and still has a few years to run on his current deal.

But if the guarantee of first team football is off the table - the same publication state he could be tempted to part ways and call time on his career in Glasgow.

Aberdeen's season to forget

Stefan Gartenmann pretty much witnessed it all at Aberdeen - from the Neil Warnock wobble to Hampden, Europe and the rattling of Rangers.

The defender, who was on loan from Midtjylland, had an eventful season at Pittodrie, from the high of scoring in a famous 3-1 win at Ibrox, playing in the group stages of the Europa Conference League and the Viaplay Cup final. There was also the alarming low when Aberdeen’s season came off the rails.

They brought in veteran Neil Warnock but he failed to win a Premiership game and he exited prematurely with the team perilously close to the relegation trapdoor. Warnock did get the Dons into the Scottish Cup semi-final but in the league his team sunk like a stone and he left after 34 days. First-team coach Peter Leven had to come in and salvage Aberdeen’s season. Gartenmann saw the confidence drain under Warnock and admitted his playing style was too direct and didn’t fit the players he had at Pittodrie.

Here's our story on a season fans want to know about but also want to forget.
