Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Catholic School, 116 S. Knoll Bunkie, La. 71322. Jury for Clark murder trial finally completed MARKSVILLE Testimony should begin Monday in the second murder trial of Bobbie Clark.

Selection of the 12 jurors and two alternate jurors was finally completed Friday evening after five days of maneuvering by the defense and prosecution. Ms. Clark, 45, of Belledeau is charged with second-degree murder for shooting her commonlaw husband, Michael Sievers, 40. Ms. Clark maintains she shot Sievers in self-defense because he beat her.

Sievers was shot seven times with a pistol after returning home about 2 a.m. on Sept. 22, 1994. Jury selection moved slowly in the trial, in part because of widespread knowledge not only about the case, but about Ms. Clark's 1981 conviction involving the murder of her husband.

The ability of the attorneys to remove jurors even after they were chosen has also slowed the case. Each side has 12 challenges they can use to remove prospective jurors. State law allows those challenges to be used even after someone is tentatively selected for the jury. For example, by Thursday evening there were 11 people tentatively on the jury, but only five of them were among those originally selected for the jury. In 1981, Ms.

Clark received a suspended prison sentence and probation after pleading guilty to conspiracy to murder her husband, Guy Kimball. The two men who killed Kimball, Dennis Roy Nall, 38, and James Brudgess, 36, are both serving life sentences after being convicted of first -degree murder. In her confession, Ms. Clark told police that Kimball had abused her and her daughter and threatened to kill both of them.
