Job Summary:

The Brain Tumor Neurosurgeon will play a pivotal role in the management and treatment of patients with brain tumors and brain injuries. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in an academic environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of experts and engaging in cutting-edge research and education while utilizing state-of-the-art techniques and equipment: iMRI, cranial robot, laser, MEG .

Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care:
– Evaluate and diagnose patients with brain tumors and brain injuries.
– Develop individualized treatment plans, which may include surgical intervention, medication management, or other therapeutic modalities.
– Perform complex neurosurgical procedures, such as clinical brain tumor surgery.
– Monitor and follow up on patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
– Provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients and their families.

2. Research:
- Engage in wet and dry lab clinical and translational research related to brain tumors and brain injuries.
- Collaborate with other researchers and contribute to ongoing research projects within the department.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.

3. Education:
- Educate and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in neurosurgery.
- Participate in didactic and clinical teaching activities.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in the field and share knowledge with colleagues.

4. Collaboration:
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including neurologists, neuropsychologists, and other healthcare professionals, to provide comprehensive care to patients.
- Participate in case conferences and tumor boards to discuss complex cases.

Qualifications:
– Medical degree (MD or equivalent) and board certification in neurosurgery.
– Fellowship training in functional neurosurgery and/or brain tumor surgery.
– Eligibility for licensure in the state of Alabama.
– Demonstrated expertise in the evaluation and surgical management of brain tumors and brain injuries neurological disorders.
– Strong commitment to patient-centered care, research, and education.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
– A record of scholarly activity, including publications and research contributions, is preferred.
